About The Position

Colorado State University’s Department of Clinical Sciences invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track faculty position in Equine Surgery and Surgical Education. The successful candidate will share clinical responsibilities at the Johnson Family Equine Hospital (JFEH), working with three tenure-track surgeons and an experienced veterinary technician team. The candidate will provide 18–24 weeks of clinical effort per year, with the number of weeks dependent on research and teaching commitments. There are no primary after-hours duty requirements, but shared backup coverage for orthopedic emergencies is anticipated while on clinical duty. The position includes teaching professional veterinary medical and graduate students, as well as continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Teaching responsibilities span clinical instruction, didactic teaching, journal club and resident training, and laboratory instruction in surgical skills and procedures. The successful candidate will contribute to surgical skills training in CSU’s new ASCEND curriculum, including the VetReady stream, and participate in the remaining legacy curriculum as it is phased out. Participation in curriculum renewal is also anticipated. The candidate is expected to develop an independent and collaborative research program advancing equine surgery and/or surgical education, and to help house officers develop research skills and publications as required by the ACVS. The JFEH is a state-of-the-art equine hospital with surgical facilities, lameness facilities, CT, digital radiology, and ultrasound. Adjacent facilities offer additional CT and 3T MRI capabilities and opportunities for translational research and continuing education. The hospital supports a broad range of equine specialties and a tertiary-care caseload. The position is located on Colorado State University’s South Campus in Fort Collins. The position is open until filled. Applications must be submitted through Workday for full consideration by 11:59 p.m. MT on November 16, 2026; email and mailed applications will not be accepted. Visa sponsorship may be available depending on the selected candidate’s situation. A signing bonus may be considered.
