The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in cybersecurity. Candidates are sought with research expertise in applied information security across software, systems, and hardware layers, addressing real-world threats in computing environments, including AI and agentic systems. Specific areas of expertise may include system security, hardware security, secure architectures, embedded and IoT security, or protection of AI workloads and data pipelines. The department is particularly interested in candidates specializing in post-quantum cryptography, securing cyber-physical, Internet of Things, or Agentic AI systems, human-centric security, zero-trust systems, and digital sovereignty. This role aims to enhance the department’s capacity in practice-oriented cybersecurity research and training. The successful candidate will join a faculty team dedicated to an exceptional student experience, engaging with over 1000 undergraduate students and 400 graduate students (including 200 Ph.D. students) through research laboratories, capstone projects, and student clubs.
