Assistant Operator
About The Position
The Assistant Operator role involves supporting the main operator in various production tasks. This includes setting up and adjusting machinery such as slitters, separators, hammer mills, and die heads. The assistant will also be responsible for supplying rolls to Fan Fold lines, wrapping rolls for the warehouse, and preparing pallets for transport. Additional duties include cleaning work areas, inspecting work in progress for quality, unloading and feeding raw materials, assisting the QA Packer, maintaining adhesive levels in the hot melt glue tank, and learning operator duties to cover absences. The role also requires operating job cranes and forklifts safely, adhering to safety rules, meeting production requirements, and potentially working in other plant areas or performing other assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Set up line (change over)
- Set slitters and separators
- Adjust hammer mill doors
- Adjust die head to prevent overspray
- Help keep rolls supplied to Fan Fold lines
- Move rolls off packing table
- Wrap rolls when line is running Roll-Stock
- Pick up rolls off packing table and place them on a table to be wrapped
- Place wrapped rolls on a pallet for warehouse placement
- Wrap the pallet
- Clean work areas at the end of the shift
- Take instructions from the operator and perform incidental tasks
- Inspect work in process for conformance to quality standards
- Advise operator of any deficiencies
- Continuously clean machine, floors, and work areas
- Unload, load, and feed raw materials into the machine
- Assist the Q A Packer as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and proper levels of adhesive in the hot melt glue tank
- Learn operator duties to satisfy requirements
- Perform operator duties in Dri Loc operator's absences
- Operate Job Cranes and Forklifts in a safe manner
- Wear safety equipment and obey safety rules
- Satisfy production requirements
- May work in other areas throughout the plant
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
