About The Position

NANA Management Services (NMS) is seeking a mature, compassionate, and highly capable On-Site Supervisor to lead and manage the efficient operation of a residential dormitory at Mount Edgecumbe High School (MEHS). This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and conducive learning and living environment for resident students, dorm staff, and employees. The On-Site Supervisor fosters an atmosphere of trust and respect, maintains regulatory frameworks, guides disciplinary processes, and plays a critical role in facilitating the dorm curriculum and extra-curricular activities through the dorm RA/RLP team. The Assistant On-Site Supervisor will serve as the main coverage for the On-Site Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or able to obtain prior to start date.
  • Education and experience in psychology, social work, counseling, special educational needs and/or teaching in a residential setting; Alaska cultural experience; staff supervision, and communication skills.
  • Mandatory qualifications or training…List of training to be provided each year.
  • Proficient communication skills, digitally (especially via email) and in a presentation setting/format.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred one (1) year experience in a school setting
  • A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient daily operation of the residential dorm, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Establish and maintain an approachable rapport with students and staff, implementing a framework of regulations and organized procedures for dormitory life.
  • Formulate staff rosters/schedules, plan staff leave and manage "REACH" (HR software) for time approval and monitoring staff hours.
  • Coordinate dorm activities and facilitate the weekend extra-curricular activities through the dorm RA/RLP team, aligning with the residential program's success.
  • Report any need for dorm maintenance and provide general health and safety supervision.
  • Perform any other essential dorm duties or projects related to residential life for staff or students as assigned by the Director of Dorm Management.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students and parents regarding dorm life.
  • Address various student concerns at the dorm level, collaborating actively with MEHS school and dorm staff.
  • Facilitate disciplinary actions in line with the school’s disciplinary, anti-bullying, and substance abuse policies.
  • Ensure adherence to the school’s protocols for communication, discipline, emotional well-being, and any other counseling or medical needs of students.
  • Oversee overall staff and employee welfare, including mentoring and supporting individual personal development plans.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and performance management for dorm staff.
  • Participate in meetings with MEHS staff, sharing pertinent information with dorm staff.
  • Work with the team to organize weekend dorm activities.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, including organizing and conducting fire, intruder, and earthquake drills.
  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain awareness and compliance with health and safety, and child protection training in line with the school’s policies and standards.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for MEHS administrative staff and employees.
  • Other duties may be assigned as need and qualified for.
