About The Position

This role coordinates the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring adherence to professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Key responsibilities include staff scheduling, program planning, resource management, quality improvement initiatives, and the supervision and development of nursing staff. The position focuses on providing quality patient care and fostering a collaborative environment that supports staff growth and innovation.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license in the State of Ohio
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • At least two years of clinical nursing experience in specialty area demonstrating leadership experience (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, shared leadership)
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience
  • One year of previous charge nurse or shift lead experience

Nice To Haves

  • Hold national certification in clinical specialty or leadership within 6 months of eligibility
  • ACLS encouraged for Med Surg/Telemetry

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily activities of the nursing department, including staff scheduling to meet patient ratios and budgetary guidelines.
  • Attends management meetings and conducts department meetings to communicate information to staff.
  • Communicates with vendors to stay updated on technological advancements and service needs.
  • Ensures department equipment is maintained in safe and orderly condition.
  • Maintains positive relationships with medical staff to improve satisfaction levels.
  • Actively promotes the service line in accordance with strategic initiatives.
  • Assures regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains competency in bedside care.
  • Provides leadership in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, education, empowerment, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking.
  • Collaborates with Manager/Director to recruit, hire, orient, and train new employees.
  • Collaborates with Manager/Director to conduct annual and ongoing appraisal of employee performance.
  • Communicates job standards and expectations.
  • Leads regular meetings with employees and fosters an environment for effective communication.
  • Collaborates with department and site leadership in preparing annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Manages services in accordance with approved budgetary guidelines.
  • Manages inventory of equipment and supplies to meet established par levels.
