About The Position
ChristianaCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for their 29-bed Stroke Treatment & Recovery (STAR) unit in Newark, DE. In this role, the ANM will assist the Nurse Manager in the clinical and administrative activities of the department to ensure the provision of quality patient care. The STAR unit focuses on the care of stroke patients as well as medical patients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
- Master’s degree in Nursing required within 5 years
- Three years' appropriate acute care, clinical experience required
- Appropriate clinical certification required

Responsibilities
- Supervises all nursing and technical personnel
- Assesses competency of staff
- Oversees daily staffing and scheduling needs of department
- Evaluate staff performance
- Counsel/coach staff member as needed
- Participates in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions
- Functions as role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors
- Directs, mentors and supports all levels of staff
- Develops, implements and monitors performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Identifies and develops strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff
- Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system wide improvements
