About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager Clinical Operations is responsible for creating a positive working environment, empowering the team to build customer satisfaction, and ensuring the implementation of professional practice standards. This role involves managing quality assurance, fostering relationships with nursing leadership, and providing direction during crisis situations. The Assistant Nurse Manager also addresses emergent maintenance requirements, supports patient discharge planning, manages staffing emergencies, conducts performance evaluations, and collaborates with off-shift managers. They are responsible for supporting bed planning competencies, anticipating and intervening in potential problem situations, and identifying ways to reduce capacity bottlenecks. This position reports to the Nurse Manager for Clinical Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Focuses and empowers the team to continuously build customer satisfaction for patients, physicians, colleagues, the community and other departments served. Engages the team to continually raising the bar in service excellence.
  • Quality-Assures that implementation of standards of professional practice occurs, reviewing and revising according to protocols or as necessary to reflect changes in practice and to ensure safe, effective and efficient patient care. Continue to develop and maintain a system wide communication process with the nursing leadership throughout the system for consistent escalation. Ensures compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations and OSHA and JCAHO standards. Consistently, with others, evaluates protocols for redesign opportunities to improve operations, reduce cost, reduce patient throughput delays, enhance service and improve performance.
  • Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships with nursing leadership in the evening hours throughout the system. Develops collaborative models for structured communications and strategic, program and quality initiatives.
  • Provides direction and leadership to nursing team during crisis and emergency situations.
  • Recognizes emergent maintenance requirements on the off shift and weekends and communicates needs to nursing leadership.
  • Provides support and escalation to PTC and Atlantic Ambulance for the discharge planning needs of patients during the evening hours.
  • Fosters exceptional public relations for the organization.
  • Manages staffing emergencies and call outs in the evening hours for next day.
  • Conducts performance Evaluations for bed planning team.
  • Conducts evening collaboration with off shift managers at AHS medical centers daily.
  • Supports bed planning competencies for all team members and provides re-education in the off shift.
  • Anticipates potential problem situations and intervenes to offset any adverse impact on the facility/unit and/or clinical operations. Recognizes emergent maintenance requirements and delegates the communications to the needs at the facilities level.
  • Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control capacity bottlenecks, as well as enhance capacity availability across the system and/or in the particular hospital. Ensures the team and leadership are aware of capacity situation.
  • Reports to the Nurse Manager for Clinical Operations and escalates concerns or issues at the sites or within the team.
