This is a full-time, night shift position for the Trauma ICU and Surgical Oncology ICU, requiring 40 hours per week. The role involves leadership in collaboration with the Nurse Manager to achieve short and long-term goals, develop and monitor performance standards, and support the organization's mission, vision, and values. The Assistant Nurse Manager facilitates orientation, education, credentialing, and professional development for staff, collaborates effectively with other healthcare disciplines, and promotes a culture of safety. They are accountable for the quality and appropriateness of healthcare delivery and the practice environment, ensuring care is delivered with respect for patient rights and preferences. Conflict resolution, service recovery, and staff empowerment through shared governance are key aspects of the role. The Assistant Nurse Manager also shares responsibility for budget planning, development, implementation, and monitoring, and fosters an environment that stimulates professional development in accordance with principles of Shared Governance and the Theory of Human Caring. They demonstrate value for professional nursing practice, including the utilization of current standards, the nursing process, and patient advocacy. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, they are responsible for continuing education, developing best practices, and maintaining the highest level of patient care and staff development, ensuring appropriate patient care in accordance with specific patient populations and demonstrating competency related to those needs.
