About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as a supportive member of the patient care team, assisting with routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. The PCT supports Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Physicians in the patient care process. This position may involve additional duties within the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • BLS required.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
  • Much exposure to computer work.
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
  • Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to radiation.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred.
  • Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals' course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vitals signs etc) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred.
  • Medical terminology training preferred.
