About The Position
The Assistant Nurse Manager for PACU/Preop is responsible for assisting the Manager in overseeing departmental operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and promoting staff development. This role involves directing clinical activities, coordinating daily workflow, and ensuring age-appropriate patient care is delivered. The position requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- One year PACU experience
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of applicable state
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge in human growth and development when appropriate
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with the team
- Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations
Nice To Haves
- BSN degree preferred
- Extensive experience in critical care or PACU setting
- One year previous supervisory experience preferred
- Certification in specialty required within one year of hire
Responsibilities
- Communicates and collaborates with the Manager, Director Nurse Anesthesia & PACU regarding departmental philosophy, goals, support needs and standards of care to ensure the highest quality of age appropriate patient care is provided.
- Directs and evaluates the activities of the clinical PACU staff.
- Promotes and facilitates the professional growth of staff members.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and mediates daily workflow utilizing management principles and strategies.
- Ensures that age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided for the age groups served.
