About The Position

This position assists the Department Manager and Department Director in directing, monitoring, and controlling the operation and productivity of the unit. It involves collaborating with hospital personnel, medical staff, and the public, and providing input on budgeting, NIAHO/ISO standards compliance, and policy development. The role actively participates in performance improvement, staff scheduling, and time card approval. The Assistant Nurse Manager assumes the duties of the Department Director during absences and demonstrates clinical expertise while providing direct and indirect patient care. The incumbent provides leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management within the department. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Previous PACU or Critical Care experience
Demonstrates the ability to facilitate change, excellent communication and organization skills
Demonstrates skills in human relations, human and material resource management
Evidence of ability to provide exceptional clinical and administrative nursing leadership
Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies
PC and computer applications
BSN desired ADN with experience will be considered
Current RN license in the State of Oregon
BLS/ACLS/PALS

Responsibilities

Oversees the operations of the unit on assigned shift in absence of Director to ensure smooth and efficient patient care.
Assures appropriate patient assignments relative to caseload and staff.
Completes daily rounding on patients and staff to ensure quality care.
Performs duties to ensure patient and employee satisfaction while promoting safety and retention.
Assists with clinical expertise for unit staff and physicians.
Coordinates quality initiatives and process improvements.
Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development.
Assists with selection, orientation, on-boarding, and retention of employees.
Demonstrates Leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities.
Assists in the development of the operational and capital budget and ensures optimal productivity for the department.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
Provides all customers of organization with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
Helps with the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing process.
