About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as an adjunct to the Nurse Manager or Nursing Director by providing supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. Assists the Nurse Manager in hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Assists the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s). Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Associate's Degree.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Practicing RN in acute care.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Above average oral and written communication abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving decision making skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or BS in related health care field.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards & Nursing Standards.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills in nursing practice.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • PALS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • NRP is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • STABLE certification is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • Professional certification within two years of hire or transfer (for new hires/transfers effective January 1, 2015).
