Assistant Nurse Manager (RN3) HMC - Operating Room
About The Position
UW Medical Center–Harborview has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager/RN3 to join us in our Operating Room. This position assists with RN3 operational and leadership duties, collaborates closely with the Nurse Manager and peers, and provides professional nursing care while supporting daily operations and team leadership within the unit. The role serves as a clinical resource, supports staff development, and partners with the Nurse Manager to maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The department is located close to public transportation and is dedicated to making a difference in patients and employees served.
Requirements
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license or valid Multistate license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of two years of professional surgical nursing experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Demonstrated experience as an Operating Room registered nurse, with proficiency in perioperative nursing practice
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Coordinate care across departments to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff
- Support staff education, onboarding, and ongoing competency development
- Assist with daily operations, including patient flow and staffing coordination
- Promote effective communication among patients, families, and care team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain standards of care
- Provide guidance, feedback, and support to team members
- Serve as charge nurse as assigned and participate in committees as needed
- Assist with unit goals, program development, and process improvements
