About The Position

The primary purpose of the Assistant Nurse Manager position is to provide management of day-to-day shift operations of inpatient care unit. Directly responsible for daily staffing and reviews daily shift assignments to obtain efficiency and eliminate overtime. Is accessible, approachable, and visible to staff; seeks staff input; and serves as clinical mentor. Actively assists staff on routine matters and is first line of response to problem-solve. Ensures clinical competencies of staff and identifies areas in need of improvement. Communicates pertinent information to Nurse Manager. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as a daily board runner to integrate and streamline clinical activities of all members of the Perioperative Services team. The Assistant Nurse Manager of the Operating Room has knowledge of the ANA, AORN, Joint Commission and Department of Health Standards of practice, and Patient Bill of Rights, Coaches staff to promote professional growth, maximum productivity, and proficiency.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • BLS required.
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in basic life support (BLS).
  • Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification is required.
  • Proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Two (2) years of progressively more responsible nursing experience, one (1) year of which shall have been in the service to which the candidate is applying.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
