About The Position

Join Harborview Medical Center for an outstanding opportunity as an Extracorporeal Resource Nurse (RN3, Assistant Nurse Manager), 90% FTE (36 hours per week), Day Shift. The EXTRACORPOREAL RESOUCE NURSE (RN3/ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER) will play a pivotal role, in coordination with the Program Manager for Dialysis and Transfusion, overseeing the day-to-day operations of extracorporeal therapies, including ECMO, CRRT, HD Dialysis, Transfusion services, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care and adherence to regulatory standards. This position promotes operational efficiency, supports hospital-wide educational initiatives, and champions continuous learning to maintain staff proficiency in the latest techniques, protocols, and best clinical practices. By fostering a culture rooted in safety, collaboration, and innovation, this role will enhance team performance and patient outcomes. The role encompasses both administrative and clinical responsibilities, including staff development, interdisciplinary coordination, and the implementation of quality improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current WA RN license
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience
  • At least 2 years in ICU setting
  • BLS and ACLS required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Current ECMO operator, CRRT and MTP nurse experience preferred
  • CCRN and ECMO specialist Certification preferred
  • Previous experience in nursing education or staff development
  • Current knowledge of Harborview extracorporeal services
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing/coordinating staffing and resource allocation for extracorporeal services.
  • Continued support/refinement of current comprehensive training programs for new and existing extracorporeal nursing staff.
  • Develop educational materials, online modules, hands-on training sessions and writing policy and procedures as needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in extracorporeal care and integrate them into training programs.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new staff and ongoing training for current staff.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to nursing staff.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Be available to provide clinical support, mentorship and guidance to nursing staff
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Monitor and analyze clinical performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement action plans.
  • Promote the use of evidence-based practices in extracorporeal care.
  • Conduct and support clinical research projects related to dialysis.
  • Disseminate research findings and best practices for nursing staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
