This position provides guidance and direction to professional, ancillary, temporary, or intermittent staff within the Emergency Room. The Assistant Nurse Executive plans and adjusts work schedules and operations to meet established objectives, priorities, deadlines, and Standards of Care. They communicate team assignments, projects, and problem-solving initiatives, ensuring timely accomplishment of tasks and integrating the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values into team strategies. The role involves assessing team strengths and weaknesses, coaching, facilitating, and negotiating team initiatives. Responsibilities include ensuring timely execution of admissions and transfers, monitoring all aspects of patient care, advising less experienced staff, identifying educational needs, and preparing reports for the Nurse Executive. This role also manages unexpected leave, resolves employee complaints, and collaborates on performance management issues. The Assistant Nurse Executive assists with conveying Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance projects, supervises day-to-day work activities, completes employee performance evaluations, and conducts staff and patient rounding. They ensure compliance with hospital-wide Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program, CMS Conditions of Participation, and other relevant requirements, identifying opportunities for client care improvements. Professional collaboration with other departments and maintaining a professional, caring attitude are essential. The role also involves participating in the development and evaluation of standards of care and quality improvement monitoring, collaborating on staff orientation and training, and completing all yearly CMS required training.
