Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Demonstrates effective Communication Skills – written and verbal
  • Thorough knowledge of all mill equipment and basic maintenance needs
  • Knowledge of different wheat varieties
  • Knowledge of grain science and analytical procedures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production problems
  • Proficiency with computers and in Microsoft Office
  • Willing and able to work with wheat products (i.e., no wheat/gluten sensitivity)
  • Willing and able to work in a team environment for the success of the plant

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Shift Miller in monitoring and inspecting product, equipment, and processing steps from raw ingredients to finished goods.
  • Monitor ingredients, formulations, and processing procedures to ensure production meets quality standards and complies with company policy and federal standards.
  • Assist the Product Coordinator in finished product transfers.
  • Identify different wheat varieties and produce products to customer specifications.
  • Observe equipment operations to ensure smooth functioning and detect/correct malfunctions.
  • Identify and assist with resolving problems in the mills and assist with milling equipment maintenance.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on sifters, purifiers, and other milling equipment.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Clean work areas and equipment, including cleaning and lubricating equipment.
  • Confirm product has the correct mix and is weighted to customer specifications.
  • Ensure finished products are transferred to load out on schedule and within customer specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance on all cleaning house equipment.
  • Assist in the repair of mill equipment, especially sifters and purifiers, on repair days.
  • Maintain ingredient feeders full at all times and ensure uninterrupted wheat flow to the mill unless instructed otherwise.
  • Blend finished product per customer specifications and transfer to load out (depending on location).
  • Conduct laboratory analysis accurately, precisely, and punctually as described by approved methods, record results, and verify accuracy.
  • Comply with prescribed test procedures and sample handling protocols.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
