About The Position

Tuffy’s Pet Food is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Day Shift, Assistant Mill Operator (Outside) position. The objective of this role is to unload raw ingredients and assist the Mill Room Operator in the batching, mixing, and grinding of feed, while adhering to all quality and safety requirements outlined in company policies.

Requirements

General mathematical ability
Basic computer skills
Must not be afraid of heights or manlifts; ability to climb 150 feet
Ability to learn, memorize, and execute a sequence of procedures
Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Willingness to get along with others
Willingness to fill in on other shifts as required by supervisor
Good judgment, communication skills, and reasoning abilities
Ability to drive a forklift and pass a certification exam
Ability to handle weights of up to 100lbs and 50lbs on a routine basis

Responsibilities

Sample incoming loads of raw ingredients and deliver to the lab to ensure they meet quality standards.
Weigh trucks in and out, verifying all paperwork (PO, Bill of Lading, seals, etc.) is in order.
Set the unloading system to the correct bin for incoming ingredients, with all settings double-checked and verified by the Mill Operator.
Hand stack 50lb bags of minor ingredients around the mixers for dumping into the batch.
Weigh micro ingredients for batch addition.
Double-check with the Mill Operator when setting grinding or blow-back bins.
Observe and understand the Mill Operator position to be able to fill in when needed.
Coordinate daily receiving of trucks from the storage lot.
Perform daily cleaning of the Mill and driveway area.
Deliver bagged ingredients via forklift from the warehouse to the driveway for dumping major hand-add bagged products into the unloading pits.
Conduct weekly inspections of Rotex and leg magnets.
Assist with monthly and semi-annual inventories.
Train new departmental employees.
