About The Position

The Assistant Merchant reports to a Merchant and is based in Carter’s Buckhead office. The role supports style setup and system management, sample management, seasonal line strategy and structure, and costing, pricing, and margin management. It analyzes business performance, coordinates samples and wholesale meeting materials, supports product and competitive research, and helps maintain pricing accuracy and meet corporate calendar deadlines.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
0–2 years of merchandising, retail sales, buying experience, or internship experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of retail metrics and sales.
Strong working knowledge of Excel reports and PowerPoint presentations.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and lead a team.
Ability to meet concurrent deadlines and manage and prioritize one’s workload.
Strong presentation and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

Own style setup in PLM, understanding database complexities and impacts on other systems, and keep up with line changes.
Analyze and report on business performance, including key findings and opportunities.
Organize and manage samples.
Prepare and manage materials for wholesale sell-in meetings.
Partner with the manager to develop and manage seasonal line structure to drive growth.
Identify new trends and demonstrate an eye for product.
Build awareness of the competitive landscape and report on learnings.
Manage corporate calendar deadlines and support the manager in preparing for milestone meetings.
Support the manager with style-level costing and total margin roll-ups.
Communicate costing constraints clearly to Design.
Maintain brand pricing charts and ensure accuracy across systems and roll-ups.
