About The Position

The Assistant Merchant, E-Commerce supports the online merchandising strategy for assigned product categories and helps drive a stronger customer experience on acehardware.com. This role partners closely with the Senior E-Commerce Merchant, vendors, internal merchandising teams, digital marketing and support partners to improve online sales, content quality and execution. The role is a development opportunity designed to build broad e-commerce merchandising experience and prepare you for expanded category ownership over time.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of e-commerce, marketing or merchandising experience
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and recommend action
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative style with the ability to work across teams and with vendors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Creative, flexible and adaptable approach with strong follow through

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with site merchandising tools or promotional setup platforms
  • Familiarity with digital marketing channels and online customer behavior analysis

Responsibilities

  • Support online category and product merchandising from planning through execution
  • Improve site findability through search and browse optimization
  • Review web performance indicators and user behavior to identify insights and actions
  • Manage product recommendations, basket building and trade up opportunities
  • Support online only assortment expansion, new item setup and promotional activation
  • Coordinate product content with vendors and internal content partners to improve content quality
  • Assist with monthly promotional planning, offer setup, pricing details and credit coordination
  • Partner with digital marketing to support paid search, affiliate, email, organic search and retargeting efforts
  • Support retailer communication, customer service preparation and category related inquiries
  • Assist with inventory planning, clearance opportunities and cross functional projects
