About The Position

The Assistant Men's & Women's Rodeo Coach assists the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a competitive NCAA (or NIRA/CNFR) rodeo program. Responsibilities include recruiting qualified student-athletes, coaching and skill development, academic support, event operations, livestock management, fundraising, travel coordination, and promoting the mission of the university and athletics department. The Assistant Coach is expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and student-athlete welfare while complying with university, conference, and National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Rodeo coaching and/or competitive rodeo experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Collegiate coaching experience.
  • Experience managing livestock and rodeo facilities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and conducting practices, workouts, and training sessions.
  • Provide technical instruction in rodeo events including rough stock and timed events, as assigned.
  • Assist student-athletes with competition preparation and performance evaluation.
  • Monitor student-athlete progress and provide individualized coaching.
  • Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes who demonstrate academic and athletic potential.
  • Assist with team travel arrangements and logistics.
  • Help coordinate rodeo entries, registrations, and scheduling.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory.
  • Assist in the care and management of livestock used for practices.
  • Ensure facilities, arenas, and equipment are maintained in a safe condition.
  • Assist with arena setup and teardown for practices and events.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation.
  • Maintain compliance with university, conference, NIRA, and applicable governing body rules.
  • Complete required compliance education and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
