About The Position

Drake University Athletics seeks a candidate to assist the Director of Tennis. This includes assisting in the individual and team preparations of the physical and mental aspects for athletes to be their best in practice and competition. The assistant will also organize home and away matches including transportation, meals, and hotel arrangements. There will be opportunity to assist with recruiting efforts and fundraising. In addition, the assistant will serve as a liaison to the strength & conditioning coach. All of the essential job duties described below require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the MAC, and Drake University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge and basic proficiency using Word, Excel, Google Applications and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations.
  • Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.

  • Skills to help student-athletes improve through training / coaching.

  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with prospective student athletes, parents, and coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Tennis with individual and team preparations of the physical and mental aspects for the athletes to be their best in practice and in competition.
  • Organize home and away matches, including transportation, meals, and hotel arrangements.
  • Assist with recruiting efforts for the Men’s Tennis program.
  • Coordinate fundraising opportunities to support the program.
  • Serve as the liaison to the strength and conditioning coach for the Men’s Tennis student athletes.
  • Assist with racquet stringing for student athletes.
  • Contribute to a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student athletes within the Men’s Tennis program, creating a culture of excellence and ethics.
  • Provides other duties as assigned.
  • All of the duties described above require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, the MAC, the Metro Conference, and/or the Pioneer Football League and Drake University.
