About The Position

This is a part-time support staff position that assists the Head Basketball Coach in the men's basketball program. Responsibilities include recruiting, coaching, teaching, scouting, and equipment distribution. The role also involves monitoring student grades, serving as a study hall/gym supervisor, and acting as a point of contact for the men's basketball program with the Housing and Residential Life Office. The position requires arranging pre- and post-game meals and performing related duties on nights and weekends. Compliance with HutchCC policies and procedures is expected. Additionally, the role may involve other responsibilities assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Successful background in basketball.
  • Ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with students, faculty, administration, alumni, media and the general public.
  • Availability to work evenings/nights and weekends.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Understand words and respond effectively and appropriately.
  • Visual acuity to view a computer terminal.
  • Use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Basketball Coach in the men’s basketball program in the areas of recruiting (in and out of state), coaching/teaching, scouting, and equipment distribution.
  • Assist in monitoring student grades.
  • Assist as study hall/gym supervisor.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the men’s basketball program with Housing and Residential Life Office and leaders.
  • Arrange pre- and post-game meals.
  • Perform work related responsibilities, as assigned, on nights and weekends.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues.
  • Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance.
  • Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
