The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach assists teaching, coaching, training, performance, and recruitment of student-athletes for the varsity men’s basketball team. The primary purpose is to teach and coach student-athletes while assisting the head coach in the conduct of the program. This role performs components of the varsity men’s basketball sports program including coaching, recruiting, office duties, and video oversight. The coach identifies and recruits academically qualified student-athletes and reinforces their goal to graduate. They actively support the endeavors and advancement of the Missouri Southern Athletics Department and operate within the guidelines of Missouri Southern State University, MIAA, and NCAA rules and regulations. The position may involve communicating with the media when the head coach is unavailable, performing athletic administration and support activities, and attending department meetings. Collaboration with medical staff, including athletic trainers, team physicians, and strength and conditioning coaches, is essential to ensure the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes. Developing and maintaining quality relationships within the community, both on and off-campus, and promoting the academic and athletic well-being of student-athletes are key aspects of this role. Conducting summer camps and clinics may also be required.
