About The Position

Hartford HealthCare (HHC) is seeking an Assistant Medical Director to join their Hospital Medicine team at Hartford Hospital. This role involves day-to-day management of clinical operations, colleague support, and ensuring quality patient care. The Assistant Director will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical managers to deliver timely, safe, and effective patient care, while also meeting regulatory and performance indicators. Responsibilities include managing provider staff, achieving quality and fiscal targets, and upholding HHC's values and policies.

Requirements

  • Board Certification in IM or FP
  • Medical Degree (MD or DO)
  • Ability to adhere to HIPPA, OSHA and CSG OSHA policies at all times
  • Ability to provide excellent and efficient customer service and patient care
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • EMR experience preferred with EPIC
  • Ability to communicate in other languages is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Participating in Administrator on Call rotation, serving as the clinical and administrative point person for providers and hospital administration.
  • Reviewing cases from a clinical care management and quality standpoint, analyzing risk data, and promoting safe, quality care delivery.
  • Supporting provider staff with challenging patient cases.
  • Working with the patient advocate to resolve patient concerns and assist with grievances.
  • Meeting with provider staff to provide performance feedback.
  • Participating in divisional HR-related issues.
  • Attending divisional meetings related to operations, scheduling, and staffing.
  • Participating in running morning huddles.
  • Attending unit progression rounds and supporting the unit lead model.
  • Participating in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new staff.
  • Focusing on divisional needs based on individual and divisional requirements.
  • Mentoring new hires and supporting growth/leadership opportunities within the division.
  • Participating in meetings external to the division, including departmental meetings, hospitalist council, and workgroups affecting hospitalist workflow.
  • Guiding staff in adherence to applicable standards of care/practice and departmental/organizational expectations.
  • Upholding H3W leadership behaviors and expectations.
  • Establishing, evaluating, and monitoring care processes, policies, and procedures to ensure appropriate Hospital resource utilization.
  • Clinical responsibilities include direct patient care and indirect support through precepting advanced practice providers and seeing patients at the bedside.
