Requirements

  • Previous Meat Department experience required.
  • Knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, inventory control, and food safety practices.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
  • Ability to use department equipment safely, including knives, cutters, grinders, and wrapping equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing daily Meat Department operations.
  • Ensure proper stocking, rotation, and presentation of meat and seafood products.
  • Maintain department conditions that support food safety, quality, and freshness standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink.
  • Ensure proper pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and promote a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist customers with product selection, preparation recommendations, and special orders.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Promote department products and sales programs.
  • Support hiring, training, coaching, and development of department employees.
  • Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing and productivity.
  • Provide direction and support to team members during daily operations.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
  • Help ensure employees follow company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of products.
  • Conduct routine department inspections and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Support execution of company audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist in achieving sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink goals.
  • Monitor product movement and make recommendations to improve performance.
  • Support expense control initiatives and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Help manage inventory accuracy and reduce waste.
