About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on the store’s overall operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to accomplish store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department and adherence to the policies, procedures, and standards in the visual manual. The Assistant Manager promotes merchandise and provides outstanding customer service, assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent, and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. The position also supports personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation; helps plan and direct store activities; monitors inventory, sales, and expenses; and helps protect company assets and financial information. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager supervises employees and carries out related supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling Hibbett I City Gear assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental and overall store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide employees and customers with knowledge and guidance across departments as needed.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure department responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and provide extraordinary service, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, as well as company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and report potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
In the Store Manager’s absence, interview and train employees, plan and assign work, direct employees, and resolve problems.
