About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with all aspects of day-to-day convenience store operations and helps keep the store running smoothly across shifts. The role combines customer service, register operations, team leadership, inventory and merchandising, scheduling, cash handling, and store maintenance. The Assistant Manager may act as manager when the Store Manager is away. This position requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, and is expected to work primarily second or third shifts. Candidates must be at least 21, have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with insurance, and be comfortable with cleaning and other store upkeep. English proficiency, basic math skills, willingness to learn, and a Food Safety Certification (or the ability to obtain one) are also required.
Requirements
- Open availability, including weekends and holidays; availability for primarily second or third shifts.
- Valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to complete bank deposits.
- Comfort with cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outside areas such as fuel pumps.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Proficient in English and able to perform basic math.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers promptly, accurately, and with a positive attitude.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a high-performing team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is off.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming store, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure full coverage.
- Handle daily cash, make deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership to motivate the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
