About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with day-to-day activities, merchandise handling and seasonal-area upkeep, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, promotional displays, ordering and processing merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention. It also helps maintain store standards and protect company assets, follows and reinforces policies and safety procedures, and helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates. The position contributes to a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintains store cleanliness, including restocking and cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, and taking out trash. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-activity communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure associates follow company policies and procedures.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
