About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with daily store activities, merchandise flow and seasonal-area upkeep, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, promotional displays, ordering and damaged merchandise, store records, loss prevention, and maintaining company standards for the sales floor and stockroom. The Assistant Manager helps protect company assets, uphold safety and other policies, and support the Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing associates. The position also involves maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful environment and cleaning and restocking store areas, including bathrooms. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Provide approachable customer service and address customer questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks through the stockroom to the sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives and communications, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey information requests.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and ensure associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Clean and maintain the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
