About The Position

The position assists the Location Manager (LM) in directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of the Mountain View Co-op (MVC) Retail Location. The Assistant Manager (AM) will coordinate assigned activities with customers, employees, and other divisions. The AM will maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. The AM must embrace and exhibit MVC’s philosophy and culture of customer service.

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years prior Retail experience
  • At least six months (6) of supervisory experience
  • Forklift Certification or ability to obtain is preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Montana
  • Clarity of speech and hearing that permits the employee to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Clarity of vision to include; near and far vision, ability to focus while operating computers and viewing monitors, and ability to read printed materials.
  • Manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a personal computer, organize files, handle products, and operate equipment.
  • Personal mobility that permits the employee to enter, operate, and exit motor vehicles.
  • Ability to navigate stairs.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and reach for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, and climb.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
  • Establish and maintain a positive experience for MVC customers, clients, and vendors, through professional interpersonal interactions.
  • Assist LM to supervise, plan, coordinate, and direct the work of the assigned location.
  • Assist LM with staffing decisions including; hiring, terminating, training, employee discipline, performance evaluation, and scheduling of work.
  • Handle any customer complaints in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
  • Report to LM customer complaints, daily invoicing, daily exception reports, etc.
  • Provide feedback to Managers.
  • Retain knowledge and understanding of MVC products and purposes.
  • Monitor and maintain inventories and process orders in compliance with MVC procedures.
  • Maintain and increase profitability and sales.
  • Maintain accurate cash control.
  • Implement and maintain MVC’s credit policy.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Study and understand monthly margin reports and P&L’s.
  • Practice and encourage workplace safety and hold employees accountable to practicing workplace safety.
  • Handle and work in proximity to flammable materials, such as diesel fuel, unleaded gasoline, kerosene, and propane, as well as toxic chemicals, such as herbicides and other agricultural chemicals which affect public safety or public health.
