FCU Community Financial is seeking a team-oriented individual with strong leadership skills to join our Powell River Branch as an Assistant Manager. In partnership with the Branch Manager, this position will oversee branch operations for both the Powell River and Texada Branches. The successful candidate must be committed to the service standards of FCU Community Financial and able to work in a fast-paced environment. With a background in financial services, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to foster business development, they will also be able to multitask, stay organized, and maintain a high level of professionalism. Additionally, frequent travel to Texada to support the branch is essential for this role, ensuring seamless coordination and assistance to meet the branch's needs. This leadership position is responsible for developing and empowering a proactive, results-driven branch team that engages members. It includes coaching and mentoring all branch employees to achieve their goals, strengthen their product knowledge, and build confidence in supporting our members’ financial well-being. This position also builds relationships within the branch community, fosters business development, and helps the branch achieve its growth objectives. This is a full-time, temporary position supporting our Powell River Branch with a minimum guaranteed term of 6 months, with potential extension based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years’ experience in the financial, sales or service industry, one year of which at a leadership capacity.
  • Minimum two years of direct retail lending experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of lending principles and practices, with specific knowledge of consumer lending products and regulations.
  • Superior knowledge of FCU Community Financial products and services.
  • Accountability for both personal and branch-assigned growth, goals and targets.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve, with strong organizational skills and emphasis on time management and prioritization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a service-oriented focus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, perform under pressure, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility.
  • Ability to develop a correlation between personal actions, service execution, and member expectations.
  • Proven sales and business development skills with a focus on member experience.
  • Ability to support the growth of others through training and development.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or equivalent experience with Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning, Consumer & Residential Mortgage Lending, Introduction to Business Financial Statements Analysis and Business Lending (recommended).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of FCU Community Financial products and services, including continual development to be aware of changes in the industry.
  • Monitor branch operations to support efficiency and adherence to processes, procedures and monthly targets. Identify opportunities for growth around member experience, employee development and overall efficiencies. Review and analyze branch reports as required while submitting monthly reports as needed.
  • Promote an all-inclusive team environment that results in engaged and invested employees who contribute to high branch morale.
  • Perform ongoing coaching sessions with employees encompassing all areas of employee growth and development that will contribute to an outstanding and lasting member experience being delivered.
  • Ensure that employees at both Branches are oriented and trained and that skills are maintained and upgraded as technology, products and services change; coordinate training sessions for employees through in-house resources and external contacts where possible.
  • Provide direction in all member service and lending functions including balancing, security procedures and product information.
  • Support the staffing requirements for the branch—hiring, onboarding, training, supervising, measuring performance, coaching, and performance management.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to support campaigns, marketing initiatives and new products and services.
  • Identify and capitalize on potential growth opportunities both in the short and long term.
  • Participate in special projects, committees, implementation teams and other related assignments required for operational, cross-departmental, or corporate initiatives.
