About The Position

Carleton Dining Services is hiring full-time Assistant Managers to join their team at the Food Court on Carleton University campus. This is an entry-level management position offering career growth and opportunity. Assistant Managers are responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the unit, working with and providing leadership to the team, and ensuring a high level of customer service. They report to the Managers in the location and work in conjunction with the Culinary Team and other Assistant Managers.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs
  • Flexible Schedule Required – may involve some evenings and weekends

  • Experience in a unionized setting an asset

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operations with assistance from the Manager on duty and in conjunction with the culinary team
  • Ensuring compliance of all Aramark operating standards and legislated standards including company policy and procedure, Health and Safety standards, and Safe Food Handling
  • Assigning daily tasks to the team
  • Performing some scheduling duties with the guidance of the manager on duty
  • Providing support to Manager with HR functions such as performance evaluations and progressive discipline
  • Recruiting and training staff in compliance with Aramark requirements
  • Developing and motivating staff to attain proper standards of performance
  • Ensuring quality, courteous service is provided to all customers, and resolving customer complaints
  • Working with the Manager and Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions
  • Participating in inventory controls
  • Collecting, recording, and depositing all revenues received at the component
  • Maintaining compliance of all cash handling and cash auditing procedures, reports and overage/shortages
  • Ensuring adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures
  • Ensuring adherence to Aramark's Health and Safety Programs
  • Performing other duties as assigned
