The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during an assigned shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls; customer relations; staffing; paperwork; food management; scheduling; store cleanliness; marketing; and profitability. The role requires setting a strong example, following all company policies and procedures, and expecting the same from the crew. The assistant manager also performs general store-team duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, handling telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. Team members must communicate effectively with customers and coworkers, process orders, perform basic arithmetic and monetary transactions, and use a computer keyboard or touch screen. Delivery duties may include driving within a designated area and carrying product to customers. The work involves standing for most tasks, frequent reaching and hand use, lifting and carrying supplies, and occasional climbing, crouching, and bending. Store and delivery work can involve temperature changes, hot equipment, sharp edges, mechanical parts, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, and varying or adverse weather.
