About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with daily convenience-store operations, customer service, staffing, merchandising, inventory, cash handling, and store upkeep. The role may act as store manager when the Store Manager is away and includes coaching and motivating team members to provide strong service and promote products. Open availability is required, including weekends and holidays, with work primarily on second or third shifts. Candidates must be at least 21, have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with insurance, and be able to complete physical cleaning and outdoor maintenance tasks. Candidates must be proficient in English, have basic math skills, be willing to learn, and have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification. Employment offers are contingent on a background check; drug screening may also be required.
Requirements
- Open availability to work weekends and holidays, primarily second or third shifts.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to complete bank deposits.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Proficient in English and basic math skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification.
- Comfort with cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outside areas such as fuel pumps.
- Successful completion of a background check is required for an employment offer; drug screening may be required.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers with speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is off.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming store, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure full coverage.
- Handle daily cash, make deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership to motivate the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
