About The Position

GLOVIS America, a global third-party logistics provider headquartered in Irvine, California, is seeking a 2nd Shift Assistant Manager to support evening operations within our vehicle logistics facility. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily second-shift activities to ensure productivity, safety, quality, inventory accuracy, and customer service expectations are consistently achieved. The Assistant Manager will lead and develop operational employees while supporting vehicle processing, yard operations, workforce management, compliance initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, employee relations, operational management, and safety experience within a logistics, warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems and labor reporting.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 5–8 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or operational leadership roles required.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience managing employee relations, workforce planning, and operational performance strongly preferred.
  • Forklift certification or material handling equipment experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment for reporting and communication.
  • Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily second-shift operations to ensure productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer expectations are met.
  • Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly operational and production targets.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing levels, labor utilization, and operational performance to support business demands.
  • Ensure timely completion of vehicle processing, inventory movements, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and implement operational improvements and process efficiencies.
  • Support labor planning initiatives while maintaining cost-effective operations and controlling overtime usage.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to operational employees and supervisors.
  • Foster a positive, productive, and professional work environment through effective employee relations practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, goal setting, coaching, and development planning activities.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the operation.
  • Support employee career growth and development through ongoing feedback and mentorship.
  • Lead employee investigations, conflict resolution, corrective actions, and disciplinary processes.
  • Address employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support progressive discipline procedures and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Oversee attendance management, workforce scheduling, overtime monitoring, and staffing coverage.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping, employee documentation, reporting, and operational recordkeeping.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable labor regulations.
  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and workplace policies.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support risk mitigation efforts and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and ensure adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Reinforce safe equipment operation and workplace safety practices among employees.
  • Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment safely and effectively as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with equipment safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Support operational continuity through proper equipment utilization and workforce training.
  • Maintain operational and workforce-related documentation, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Support operational audits, compliance reviews, and management reporting requirements.
  • Assist leadership with labor analysis, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor operational trends and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and service levels.
