The Assistant Practice Manager supports the Practice Manager in daily practice operations, patient flow, team coordination, and service execution. This hands-on developmental leadership role is designed to build operational knowledge and leadership capability, preparing the employee for expanded responsibility over time. The role works actively on the practice floor and supports multiple functions, which may include patient care coordination, optical sales and service, technician or clinical support, patient handoffs, and daily operational routines. Specific responsibilities may be assigned based on practice needs, business priorities, and individual readiness; the role does not own the full scope of practice management. The Assistant Practice Manager helps create a supportive, accountable, patient-centered team environment. The position works with the Practice Manager and Optometrist to support exam flow, provider needs, patient handoffs, team readiness, coaching, training, and operational improvement. When assigned, the Assistant Manager serves as the practice point of contact during the Practice Manager’s absence and escalates matters outside the role’s authority.
