About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches for meeting store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, adherence to the visual manual, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and promoting store merchandise. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities. The position supports asset protection, personnel activities, inventory and sales oversight, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and the consistent completion of departmental responsibilities and standards. It also delivers customer service, promotes merchandise and services, follows company policies and procedures, and protects company assets and financial information through effective internal controls.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling Hibbett I City Gear assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental and store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments as needed.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service is maintained, including assisting customers as they enter and serving multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell Hibbett I City Gear services and merchandise.
Perform general administrative duties and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals and company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective and reporting potential fraud risks.
In the Store Manager’s absence, supervise employees, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
