About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches for achieving store goals. The role requires knowledge of the store’s product areas and departments, and adherence to the policies, procedures, and standards in the visual manual. The Assistant Manager promotes merchandise and delivers outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control of the store and performs Store Manager responsibilities for which they have been trained.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other departmental and store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments as needed.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability in all departments.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service, including welcoming customers, assisting multiple customers during peak periods, and following the customer service manual.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, as well as company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and report potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and carry out trained Store Manager responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and directing work, assigning tasks, and resolving problems.
