About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports and consults with the Store Manager on store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches for achieving store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department and adherence to company policies, procedures, and visual standards. The Assistant Manager promotes merchandise and delivers outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control of the store and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and assist customers, including multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell the company’s services and merchandise.
Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards outlined in applicable manuals and communications.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls are effective and accurate, and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing employees, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
