About The Position

The Assistant Manager – Logistics Warehouse supports the Warehouse Manager in leading daily warehouse operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of inventory and orders. This position provides hands-on leadership to warehouse associates, coordinates workflow across receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping functions, and helps maintain high standards for safety, productivity, accuracy, and customer service. The Assistant Manager serves as a key member of the warehouse leadership team and is expected to lead by example, develop employees, identify operational improvements, and step in as the acting manager when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate warehouse employees and lead employees.
  • Assign daily responsibilities and communicate operational priorities clearly.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and address performance or attendance concerns in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Recognize employee performance and identify opportunities for employee development.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.
  • Assist with the daily planning and execution of warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate staffing, workflow, and priorities to meet daily shipping, receiving, and production requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, order accuracy, inventory movement, and service-level expectations.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure equipment, work areas, and warehouse processes are maintained and utilized effectively.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse leadership, employees, transportation teams, customer service, purchasing, and other departments.
  • Monitor operational reports and provide updates regarding staffing, productivity, inventory, and service issues.
  • Assist with scheduling and labor planning based on operational needs.
  • Complete required documentation and ensure warehouse records are accurate and timely.
  • Escalate significant operational, staffing, safety, or customer-impacting issues to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct or assist with safety meetings, inspections, and training.
  • Ensure employees use proper lifting techniques, personal protective equipment, and material-handling procedures.
  • Report and address unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable company, regulatory, and warehouse requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records and warehouse locations.
  • Monitor receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping accuracy.
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Help identify root causes of inventory or order accuracy issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure products are handled, stored, and shipped according to company standards.
