About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Manager to support the leadership of a diverse team, oversee an indoor swim school operation, and drive sales growth through enrollment while maintaining profitability. In this role, you will support the Director of Operations in expanding aquatics programs, ensure a safe and clean environment, deliver a world-class customer experience, and engage the local community effectively. This role will be crucial in growing our brand locally. This role is for a SafeSplash SwimLabs swim school located at 77 Pane Road, Newington, CT 06111.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience (services, aquatics, education, or related field preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; some college coursework preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while being agile and taking initiative
  • Comfortable working around water and interacting with children and parents.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire (training available)

Nice To Haves

  • Lifeguard certification is preferred
  • Experience in aquatics management and swim instruction is desired

Responsibilities

  • Assist in instructing, deck management and front desk duties to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Effectively manage scheduling and staffing levels to meet business demands and class mix.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of the facility and ensure proper processes and procedures are completed in the interior, exterior, pool and pump room to ensure cleanliness, safety and operational standards.
  • Promote a safety culture for our team, students, and parents by consistently executing the quality assurance and brand standards and responding accordingly.
  • Assist Director of Operations in pulling reports to manage swim school’s performance with enrollment, revenue, customer experience and retention and profitability.
  • Manage recruitment, post jobs, interview, and oversee onboarding to integrate new employees while also effectively planning succession.
  • Train new staff and ongoing education and development for all team members to enhance skills and stay current with standards.
  • Manage staff scheduling from finding substitutions, adding and removing classes and communicating to customers of scheduling changes.
  • Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive workplace culture through teambuilding activities, recognition, and growth opportunities.
  • Provide employees with ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Deliver a world-class experience by addressing customer inquiries, ensuring timely follow-ups, and maintaining high satisfaction scores (NPS).
  • Execute strategies to enhance customer engagement and retention, including proactive communication with parents about their child’s progress.
  • Respond to customer requests effectively and promptly.
  • Assist in obtaining customer feedback and reviews on platforms like Google.
  • Assist in local marketing initiatives to promote programs and increase community involvement.
  • Assist with creating and managing social media platforms to engage with customers and drive interest in the swim school.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to strengthen relationships with local businesses and organizations, enhancing community visibility.
  • Help in testing pool water (in house and offsite nearby location) and add pool chemicals as necessary
