About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing various aspects of restaurant operations, including budget monitoring, staff supervision, scheduling, guest relations, maintaining cleanliness, and executing opening and closing procedures. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in ensuring guest satisfaction, managing employee relations, and upholding safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring of the budget, staff supervision, scheduling, guest relations, restaurant cleanliness and opening and closing procedures.
  • Opening and closing shift in accordance with proper procedures.
  • Initiating guest interaction through seeking and soliciting feedback from guests.
  • Properly executing revenue and check control procedures on shift.
  • Handling daily employee relations (e.g., scheduling, time adjustments).
  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment for all associates and guests.
  • Gathering and implementing all proper tools for running shift, (e.g., schedules, floor plans, reservations, checks).
  • Finding solutions for problems such as call outs, last minute bookings or any other daily problems that may arise.
  • Ensuring that guests are satisfied by assisting with serving, seating, and communication with kitchen and by striving to speak to all guests during shift.
  • Reporting all employee issues and concerns to the General Manager where applicable and making recommendations as to the appropriate resolution.
  • Maintaining presence on the floor during entire meal periods and ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Interviewing, selecting, hiring and retaining superior employees.
  • Completing and issuing timely evaluations for subordinates.
  • Conducting formal and informal training for subordinates.
  • Conducting formal and informal coaching and counseling with subordinates.
  • Rewarding and recognizing superior performers.
  • Ensuring service stations, POS terminals, bars & retail areas are operational.
  • Ensuring that employees work safely and follow all safety rules.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry and competition.
  • Ensuring effective communication within the department and company.
  • Holding subordinates accountable for established performance expectations.
  • Motivating and developing staff; providing advice and guidance as appropriate.
  • Complying with and enforcing compliance with the company’s recycling program standards.
  • Being actively at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
