About The Position

Facilitates and manages day-to-day operations of the department, including fiscal and human resources processes. Supports and ensures that comprehensive patient care services are being provided that support the integrity of the family system and patient care team. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in management/administrative
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Respiratory Care Professional current Georgia license
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Related specialty or subspecialty recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Team partnership and conflict resolution orientation
  • Ability to listen and problem-solve
  • Staff development skills
  • Physician relations
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skills Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • (Registered (RRT) Staff IV (Leaders, Educators, and Managers) in 2006 without a BS/BA may be grandfathered in at the initial rollout into the new roles of Leader, Educator, Assistant Manager and Manager as long as they have 5 years of Pediatric or related specialty experience and obtain a Specialty Certification within 12 months)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and works to improve the process of education within the unit and system.
  • Collaborates and consults with interdisciplinary team regarding clinical outcomes.
  • Coaches others in clinical decision making and problem-solving.
  • Provides bedside care/support at least 24 hours per month.
  • Maintains current clinical skills and competencies.
  • Maintains 15 continuing education units per year plus an additional 5 hours of job-related education.
  • Fosters professional development of others via constructive performance appraisals and professional development plans.
  • Demonstrates coaching skills to staff.
  • Serves as an advisor to shared decision making councils.
  • Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff.
  • Develops plans to promote growth and development of leadership skills in others.
  • Guides staff in maintaining the budget as related to staff and material resources, including budget oversight, staff scheduling, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Acts as a resource to escalating concerns of potential or actual conflict to seeking resolution and incorporating service recovery.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with leadership in other departments to ensure appropriate resources are accessible for clinicians.
  • Executes implementation plans for system and unit changes.
  • Achieves administrative outcomes through effective teamwork and mentorship.
  • Serves as unit leader in absence of the manager.
  • Coordinates administrative projects.
  • Participates in the development and achievement of department goals.
