91-26: Assistant Manager Operations (Weekend Overnight)

About The Position

This is a Part-time non-union position scheduled to work 14 hours per week (Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). The Assistant Manager Operations will train, develop, and supervise support staff, relief staff, and security staff. This role oversees the delivery and coordination of program services, including supporting staff and client day-to-day issues, liaising with Central Intake, and following up with facility management. The position involves maintaining and updating work schedules, ensuring proper coverage and staffing, and ensuring incident reports and documentation are up to date. The Assistant Manager will also support the hiring and training of new staff, work closely with other Assistant Managers and the Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and clear communication between teams, and coordinate/support the delivery of services to participants. A key responsibility is reviewing and ensuring files and documentation are up to date in databases, and supporting and leading staff in managing crises and high-risk situations. The role ensures compliance with operational policies, procedures, and Temporary Reception Center Standards, and works with the team on developing and updating Reception Center policies. The Assistant Manager must always be available on call for staff emergencies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent and related management experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time experience working in a Reception Centre, Shelter, Refugee Reception Program, Housing Program, or other congregate care/community-based setting, supporting individuals experiencing psychological, physical, emotional, housing, settlement, or environmental challenges, including at least one (1) year of experience supervising programs and staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Toronto Shelter or Reception Centre Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing, implementing and evaluating programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in issues facing people experiencing homelessness.
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Excel and email is essential.
  • Experience in entering and monitoring data in an internet-based database.
  • Possession of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate is required.
  • Possession of a valid Naloxone training certificate is required.
  • Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within past 6 months.
