Assistant Manager - Mental Health Employment

About The Position

We are looking for a proactive employee to place, train, stabilize, and rehabilitate, people with disabilities in competitive supportive employment. Responsibilities include: Receive referrals to supported employment programs and initiate acceptance/processing in collaboration with potential participants, referring providers, and employment program team. Evaluate participants’ employment interests, skills, and potential, utilizing the personal portfolio method. Maintain up to date knowledge of work incentives related to entitlements and counsel participants regarding the impact of employment on their other resources. Identify the employers’ and the employees’ needs at the job site. Collaborate with employer/manager/trainer to assess participant training needs. Provide training and orientation for staff in coordination with the Program Manager. Work with employers to identify jobs suitable for participants. Provide rehabilitative service to individuals, as assigned. Provide regulation-durable billable services to participants, as assigned. Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, HR groups, and employment networks. Function as a community educator/marketer regarding the employment of people with disabilities. Represent the Agency in presentations to business groups and the general public. Document services provided in accordance with program policy. Relate activities to goals identified in participant’s Staff Action Plan, IPE or Habilitation Plan. Complete tasks related to ACCESS-VR reports, ACCESS-VR/OPWDD billing, and other service reports, as assigned. Support Program Manager in monitoring department staff compliance with regulations and standards. Assist Program Manager in supporting staff compliance, as assigned. Provide person-centered, quality services. Observe confidentiality and safeguards all participant related information. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies. Perform Other Duties as Assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED plus four years’ experience working with people with disabilities
  • Associate degree plus two years’ experience working with people with disabilities in order to secure competitive employment
  • Bachelor degree in a human services field
  • Valid NYS Driver License
  • Transportation necessary to meet program needs
  • Must respect confidentiality and follow all applicable protocols and regulations
  • Must exhibit teamwork and professionalism
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate job placements; this may include early morning, evening and/or weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds
