The Internal Logistics and Warehouse Operations team plays a crucial role in S&C's business and has a significant impact on our customers and the future of S&C. We are seeking an individual who possesses strategic vision along with solid tactical skills to join our team as an Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for developing High Performance Work Teams, optimizing material flow, and maintaining A3s to support problem solving and the company's strategic roadmap. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will be expected to work closely with front-line leaders, such as Team Leaders and Supervisors, to improve communications, accountability, and continuously improve all warehouse operations, such as receiving, repack, putaway, production replenishment, and shipping. The ideal candidate must possess solid leadership and problem-solving skills, with constant attention to detail, and the willingness to take ownership for all areas within warehouse operations. The Assistant Manager position is also responsible for supporting and providing resources for the Supervisors to run warehouse operations, collaborating cross-functionally across the company. Moreover, the Assistant Manager must have strong coaching and mentoring skills and be able to support senior management with the implementation of action plans, scorecards, material flow initiatives, and countermeasures when KPIs are missed. This role reports to the Director of Logistics, who is responsible for providing strategic guidance to logistics leadership and improving the business to meet the company's KPIs in safety, quality, delivery, cost and Human Development (SQDCH).
Requirements
- Minimum four-year college degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of production supervisory experience in high and low volume environments where multiple shifts of operation were in play.
- Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
- A history of team member development for upward mobility.
Responsibilities
- Promoting safety awareness, housekeeping, investigating, and reporting on safety incidents.
- Setting and maintaining high levels of product quality, as it pertains to material flow.
- Conducting team-building meetings to promote continuous improvement principals.
- Maintaining a high level of on-time delivery to both internal and external customers.
- Performing planning functions to ensure the timely availability of staffing and materials.
- Creating and/or maintaining meaningful visuals such as KPI boards.
- Coaching and mentoring direct reports in Problem Solving and other LPS/CI activities.
- Conducting performance appraisals and regular check-ins.
- Making decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective action, and terminations.
- Identifying training and skill development to meet departmental needs.
- Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating, and institutionalizing a culture of simplification, standard work, process improvement and lean principles.
- Providing and monitoring training in areas such as inventory management, selecting/packing/processing product through Oracle, safe forklift navigation, consistent & timely parts delivery to assembly, along with supporting safety and departmental policies and procedures.
