About The Position

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists the Store Manager with day-to-day store activities, merchandise management, customer support, store standards, compliance, and associate supervision. The position is part-time and located at 3465 W Walnut St Ste 229, Garland, Texas 75042-7140. The Assistant Manager helps maintain a positive, safe, and respectful store environment and ensures professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders. Duties may include opening and closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness throughout the store, and performing other related duties as assigned. Managers at stores selling alcohol or tobacco may be required by the local jurisdiction to provide background information to obtain the required license; failure to comply or qualify may lead to demotion or separation.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal store areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor, stockroom, and other store areas to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates follow them.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
