About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role helps manage daily store activities, merchandise flow and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, record keeping, loss prevention, store cleanliness, and adherence to company policies and safety guidelines. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates while fostering a positive, safe, respectful, and professional environment for customers and associates. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks through the stockroom to the sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates follow company policies and procedures.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
