About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports day-to-day store activities, helps maintain merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures as needed, and processes corporate directives. It also assists with ordering and handling merchandise, store record keeping, loss prevention, and protecting company assets. The Assistant Manager I helps the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and supports a safe, respectful, and customer-friendly environment. Responsibilities also include maintaining store cleanliness and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain store areas to company standards, including a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure store associates follow company policies and procedures.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
